How to Draw Zentangle: The Art of Meditation & Focus

The Dighton Public Library invites everyone to an introductory meditative drawing class on Wednesday, November 16 at 6:30 PM at the Dighton Public Library. This practice of drawing is know as Zentangle┬«. It is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Through its meditative qualities, it increases focus and creativity and produces an increased sense of peace and personal well being, offered just in time for the busy holiday season. This class will be taught by Certified Zentangle┬« Teacher Cindy O’Brien.

In the first hour of each two-hour class, participants learn seven “tangles” which are easy to learn, step-by-step drawings consisting of either a line, dot or circle, which are combined to create abstract patterns. Drawing the tangles stroke-by-stroke creates a focus which in turn creates a relaxing and meditative state. During the second hour, participants apply the tangles to a unique line drawing of a sun image which they can then take them home and color.
This class is great for introducing beginning artists, as well as those who are familiar to this drawing method. Registration is required for this program. For more information, please contact Jocelyn Tavares at 508-669-6421. Dighton Public Library, 395 Main Street, Dighton MA.
