Local author Steve Manchester will begin our “Every Hero Has a Story” Summer Reading programming by sharing his real world experiences of what being a hero means on Tuesday, July 7 at 2:00 at the Lower Level Meeting Room of Dighton Town Hall. Steve served in the first Gulf War and has written about those times under the pen name, Steven Herberts. He wrote in newspapers, magazines, and even penned two collections of poetry. Once he found his true voice, he began writing, The Unexpected Storm: The Gulf War Legacy; an emotional account of the Gulf War that would heal his soul, and the souls of other suffering veterans. This is where he found his love of writing which became a career and led to several award-winning books.
From Congressmen to schoolchildren, Steve’s lectures cover the realities of the Gulf War, adult incarceration, and the motivation needed to write and become published. This special presentation is the perfect accompaniment to Every Hero having their own story.
